ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the current status of subjective well-being(SWB) and anxiety of nurses, and analyze their correlation. METHODS: A total of 1 052 nurses from an A-Class hospital in Wuhan City were recruited as the study subjects by convenience sampling method, and the SWB and anxiety survey were conducted using the Overall Happiness Scale and Anxiety Self-Rating Scale. RESULTS: The median score of SWB in the study subjects was 64.0, which is at the intermediate level; the median anxiety score was 54.0, and 64.5% of anxiety was mild or above. There was a negative correlation between SWB and anxiety(Spearman correlation coefficient was-0.72, P<0.01). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the nurses who had more anxiety were accompanied with lower SWB(P<0.05); the SWB was lower in divorced nurses than that in married or unmarried ones(P<0.05); the SWB was higher in nurses who work in obstetrics and gynecology than that in internal medicine(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The SWB of nurses in this A-Class hospital is relatively low, and most of them have anxiety, which has a negative effect on SWB.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the preference and influencing factors of environment color of in-patients with schizophrenia. Methods A total of 1 320 schizophrenic inpatients were enrolled in the study. The self-made general questionnaire, the Eysenck personality questionnaire, the positive and negative symp-tom scale were used in this survey and the color preference was compared with the normal control group. Re-sults (1)The preference degree was significantly different in green(Z=-2.587,P=0.010),blue(Z=-2.708,P=0.007),white(Z=-2.733,P=0.006) and grey(Z=-7.409,P<0.01) between the two groups, and the sequence of color preference was consistent(r=0.750,U=2.710,P<0.01).(2) Gender, age, place of residence, physical disease, starting age, disease subtype, positive symptoms, negative symptoms,hospitaliza-tion time, hospitalization frequency, psychoticism and neuroticism, internal and external factors were signifi-cantly related to color preferences(r=0.010-0.216 or r=-0.122--0.054,P<0.05),which would be the influ-ence factors to color preferences(β=0.104-0.055 or β=-0.091- -0.056,P<0.05). Conclusion The most significant color preferences for patients with schizophrenia are red and black, which may be related to their cognitive function and personality characteristics.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the pathogenesis of lower limb motor disorder in vascular parkinsonism(VP)using diffusion tensor image(DTI). Methods A case?control study was performed in a cohort of 16 VP patients and 32 PD patients. Patients were all recruited from the first affiliated hospital of China Medical University from Dec. 2011 to Dec. 2012. The lower limb motor function of those patients was assessed using measurement scales. All patients received magnetic resonance image(MRI)and diffusion tensor image(DTI). Results Patients in VP group showed more seri?ous movement disorders such as freezing of gait(gait ignition failure)than these in PD group, and the movement disorders of their lower limbs prog?ress more rapidly in VP group than the PD group. Movement disorders of their lower limbs in VP group were related to fibers in bilateral frontal lobes (P=0.008). Movement disorder of their lower limbs in PD group were related to fibers in substantia nigra(P=0.030). There are statistically signifi?cant differences in both the FA values of substantia nigra, bilateral frontal lobes and the ADC values of frontal lobes, and the pars compacta and pars reticulata of substantia nigra between these two groups(all P<0.05). Conclusion Movement disorders of bilateral lower limbs are more seriously manifested in VP patients than in PD patients. The onset movement dysfunction of bilateral lower limbs is closely related to fibers in the frontal lobe.

ABSTRACT

Effects of sex hormones on infarction size(IS) and left ventricular myocardial contractility and relaxation (LVMC, LVMR) in rats after left coronary occlusion in order to make a model of myocardial infarction(MI) were studied. Male adult rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, and pre-treated respectively with testosterone propionate(10mg/kg), oestradioli benzoatis(500?g/kg), or vehicle (0.sml/kg) for 3 weeks (3 times per week) before MI. The injection was continued after MI, on 9th of MI indexes of LVMC and LVMR, IS and the levels of sex hormones were measured. The results showed that: (1) IS were nor affected by both testosterone and oestradiol. (2) Indexes of LVMC and LVMR, i. e. dp/dtmax, LVSP and -dp/dtmax, were lightly inhibited by hyperoestrogencmia(HE), the increasing rate of body weight (IRBW) before and after MI were significantly inhibited by HE. However, indexes of LVMC and LVMR were significantly improved by hypertestosteronemia(HT), but IRBW were not affected by HT. (3) It is interested to note that there was a significant positve correlation between the level of plasma testosterone and indexes of LVMC and LVMR, and an inversive correlation between the level of oestradiol and indexes of LVMC and LVMR, suggesting sex hormones really pay a rolein the pathophysiological process of MI.

ABSTRACT

The present study compared effects of sodium selenite(Se), hyaluronidase (Hy) and anisodamine(An) on infarction size(IS), left ventricular myocardial contractility (LVMC) and relaxation(LVMR) on the third day after the ligation of left coronary artery in rats. The results showed that Se, with the dose of 30?g/kg/day either before or after the ligation, has a same effect on reducing IS as Hy and An. However, Se, at the same time, can significantly improve LVMC and LVMR, which were evalued by indexes of LVSP, ?dp/dtmax and T value, while Hy and An can not. It is suggested that Se is superior to Hy and An when they are used in treatment of acute myocardial infarction.
